The program is open to all St. Thomas the Apostle school children and has grown tremendously in enrollment and in the quality of services. The program focuses on assisting children to excel in their academics as well as have an enjoyable afterschool experience through many recreational activities. Our Program's Philosophy To provide a Christ-centered environment for those students who remain in our care after school hours. Our environment is based on the same solid, Christian values which surround their school day. A sense of respect for others and self, pride in achievement, and recognition of fair play, teamwork and responsibility are the basis of the goals for each of our students in After Care. Study/Homework time, as well as play time and arts and crafts are supervised according to the values set forth by the teachings of Jesus and are modeled by all those committed to assisting in the Program. Standards are set for those directing the program as well as for the students attending. It is our goal to further aid in the personal development of each child as it was during their school day. We strive to continue assisting the children in being the best they can be, spiritually, socially, intellectually and emotionally in a loving and supportive atmosphere. As always, these goals are best met when home and school work together. General Information: - Our warm home-like atmosphere allows the children to feel accepted and appreciated.
- A full-time director is on site during program hours.
- Staff are experienced, supportive and compassionate to provide a structured yet relaxed setting for the children.
- Typical Program Hours: 2:50PM - 6:00PM
- Half days off from school are included in one low monthly fee.
- Drop in Care is available.
Daily Schedule A typical schedule would include: - Snack time (snacks and juice are provided)
- Homework time: grades 2-8 (quiet time) in classroom with a teacher, grades K-1 in aftercare area with aftercare assistant. During this time the Pre-K has group play/learning activitity time.
- Free play which includes game playing, tv time (Nick, PBS & Disney), indoor gym/outdoor play (weather permitting), board/card games, video games, or just relaxing with after school friends.
- Various crafting projects with holiday/seasonal themes.
- Clean up time: Children are expected to know or learn that they need to clean up after themselves as well as help others do the same.
